1/4 cup margarine
1/4 cup butter
1 egg yolk
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Mix butter and margarine, brown sugar, egg yolk and vanilla together. Stir in flour and salt. Roll into 1 inch balls. Dip slightly into beaten egg whites. Roll in finely chopped nuts. Place 1 inch apart on a greased cookie sheet and bake in a 375º oven for 5 minutes. Remove and press your thumb gently on top of each cookie and return to oven and bake 8 minutes longer. Cool. Place jam or tinted butter cream frosting in each.
