1 c. sugar,
1/2 c. butter softened,
1 egg,
1 3/4 c. flour,
1 tsp. baking soda,
1 c. sour milk,
2 squares chocolate, melted,
10 cent bottle of cherries and juice,
1/4 tsp. salt,
1/2 c nutmeats

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and butter. Add egg. Mix dry ingredients and add alternately with sour milk. Add melted chocolate, nuts and chopped cherries and juice. I think there should be about 1/2 cups of maraschino cherries and 2 Tbs. juice.

Grease pans. Preheat oven to 350degrees. Pour into two 8 inch round cake pans or one 9" by 12" pan. Bake about 45-50 minutes. Cool in pans for 5 minutes. Shake ones and remove cake to complete cooling before frosting.

I have no idea how big a 10 cent jar of cherries is but trial and error indicates that it is the small jar of maraschino cherries.
