1 1/2 cups shortening
2 cups white sugar
2 eggs
4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
4 tsp ground ginger
2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground cloves
1/2 cups molasses
3/4 cup coarse sugar or granulated sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening, eggs, and sugar together. Add dry ingredients. Add molasses. Shape dough into 2 inch balls and roll in coarse sugar. Place on a greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350º for 12 minutes or until cookies are light brown and puffed. Do not over bake.
Cool.
Makes 2 dozen large cookies.
