¾ cup butter/margarine
2 squares (2 ounces) unsweetened chocolate
1 1/3 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup pecans (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Turn oven to 350°. Grease the baking pan with some shortening.
Put butter and chocolate into saucepan. Put on burner. Turn burner to low heat. Heat until butter and chocolate melt, stirring once or twice. Turn off burner and remove pan.
Stir sugar into chocolate mixture. Stir in the 3 eggs, 1 egg at a time, until well mixed.
In a small bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and pecans (optional). Stir into chocolate mixture. Scrape into the greased pan and spread out with a rubber scrapper. Put pan into the oven. Bake for 25-30 minutes.
