1 cup sugar
1/4 cup corn starch
4 egg yolks
1 small can carnation milk
2 cups regular milk

1 cup coconut (canned flake coconut)
2 Tbsp vanilla
3 Tbsp margarine or butter

1 tsp cream of tartar
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Mix the first five ingredients. Heat in a double boiler until it thickens. Then add the coconut, vanilla, and butter. Set in the refrigerator until cool.

Beat egg whites and 1 teaspoon cream of tartar until stiff. Add 1/4 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla and beat for one minute.

Pour filling into baked pie shells, top with egg white topping, sprinkle with coconut, and brown in oven at 375º - 400º.
