Ingredients:
Granny Smith, Macintosh, or your favorite apple
.
toothpicks

mini-marshmallows (colored)

Directions:

Take desired number of apples. Core them. Slide a marshmallow on each toothpick. Make funny faces and hair by pushing the marshmallow toothpicks into the apple.

A safer alternative to the toothpicks, for younger children especially, would be melted chocolate or marshmallow cream.

My mom (Reneé Bundy) was the master of the school snack. When Brittany or I came up on the snack calendar, our friends immediately began asking questions. What's your mom making this time? Will she make enough for us to have two?

This particular snack seemed to stick out in my memory because of its popularity amongst the other kids. I don't know if it tasted so good, or if we just liked picking off the eyeballs and eating them. :)
