1/2 C. Powdered Sugar
1 C. Butter, softened
1/2 tsp. Peppermint extract
1-1/4 C. Flour
1/2 C. Cornstarch
Glaze:
1-1/2 C. Powdered Sugar
2 Tbsp. Butter, softened
1/4 tsp. Peppermint Extract
1-2 Tbsp. Milk
2-3 drops Red Food Color
4-6 Candy Canes, crushed

Cookie:
Combine powdered sugar, butter and peppermint extract in large bowl. Beat until creamy. Add flour and cornstarch. Beat until well mixed. Cover dough, refrigerate for 30-60 minutes, or until firm.
Heat oven to 350º.
Shape rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into 1-inch balls. Place 2-inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until edges are slightly browned. Let stand 1 minute before removing from cookie sheets. Cool completely.
Glaze:
In a small bowl, combine powdered sugar, butter, peppermint extract and enough milk to obtain desired consistency for glaze (you want it more runny than thick). Stir in drops of food color until you reach the color you desire (more pink than red). Drizzle glaze over cookies.
Sprinkle crushed candy canes immediately over freshly glazed cookies.
