6-8 pieces of cube steak
6 tbsp of flour
6 tbsp of corn oil
2 cups of water
salt and pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Dredge meat in flour until well coated, beating flour into meat with the edge of a saucer. fry quickly on each side in a few tbsps of corn oil. remove and place in bottom of a flat glass casserole/9x11 or 13. Blend flour and oil over medium heat and gradually add two cups of water and stir untill it thickens. Pour over meat and bake, covered, at 325º for two hours. check and be sure it is not drying out after an hour. add a bit of water if necessary. Add salt and pepper to taste.

This was a favorite of Linda Burton Powell's when she was a child. Nonny made it often. Cube steak was reasonably priced and Nonny knew how to stretch a dollar.
