1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup yellow cornmeal
1/2 cup chopped golden raisins
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp minced orange peel
2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup real maple syrup
2/3 cup milk
2 large eggs

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease a 9 inch square pan. Sift flour into large bowl. Add the cornmeal, raisins, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, orange peel, sugar and salt. Mix well b hand. In a separate bowl, whisk together vanilla extract, butter, syrup, milk and eggs. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and stir until all the ingredients are moistened. Spoon the batter into the greased pan and bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. The top should spring back to the touch or a tooth pick should come out clean when inserted. Let cool for 10 minutes, serve warm.
