1/2 C Warm Water
2 pkgs Yeast
1/4 C Sugar
2 T Salt
1/4 C Shortening
12 C Flour
3 1/2 C Warm Milk or Potato Water

Directions:
Directions:
Put yeast in the warm water. Add milk, sugar, salt, shortening and 10 cups of flour. Knead 10 minutes with 2 more cups of flour. Let rise until double in size. Put in greased pans and let rise. Bake at 400º for 45 minutes.

This recipe comes from my great grandma, Marie Schlais. My Great Aunt Evelyn was the one who carried on the tradition after Marie died, but my Grandma Schlais, Josephine would make these for family gatherings as well.
