3/4 cup buttermilk
4 Tbsp sugar
1/4 cup shortening
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp soda
1 pkg yeast
1/4 cup water
2 1/4 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in water. Scald buttermilk; add sugar, and shortening. Cool. Blend in yeast. Sift flour and soda. Add milk mixture and blend (it will be a soft dough). Place in greased bowl. Cover and let rise for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Knead and spread on floured surface. Brush with melted butter all over. Cut diagonal 2-inch slices. Layer three on top of each other and cut into 1-inch rolls; put in greased muffin tins and let rise 30 minutes. Bake at 400º for 15 minutes.
