1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg (unbeaten)
1 t. vanilla
1 T. lemon rind
2 c. flour
1/2 t. cream of tartar
1/2 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
1 lg. can cherry pie filling
TOPPING:
3 T. butter
1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar. Add egg, vanilla and lemon rind. Gradually blend in dry ingredients and mix well. Press into pie pan or round layer cake pan. Do not cover rim. Pour pie filling over crust. For topping: cut together butter, flour, sugar and nuts. Cut until fine and sprinkle over pie. Bake in 350º oven 35 minutes.
