½ c. Margarine or butter
2 eggs
½ c. shortening
2 tsp. soda
3 c. brown sugar
6 ¼ c. flour
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. raisins
1 box (16 oz) candied fruit
3 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. vanilla
4 tbsp. buttermilk

Cream butter, shortening and sugar. Add milk and eggs. Mix well. Add half of flour and soda sifted and mix well. Coat raisins in some of the flour. Mix fruit, nuts and raisins. Sift rest of flour and spice mix, mix well. Drop by small spoonful on cookie sheet. Leave some distance in between. Cook about 8 minutes in 375 degree oven.
