3 cups sliced fresh peaches
1 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
1-1/2 cup flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
1/3 cup shortening
1/2 cup milk
1 egg, well beaten
2 tablespoons sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Arrange peaches in a greased 8-inch baking dish. Sprinkle with sugar, almond, lemon juice and peel. Heat in oven while preparing shortcake. Sift together flour, salt, baking powder and 1 tablespoon sugar, cut in shortening. Add milk and egg at once. Stir just until flour is moistened. Spread dough over hot peaches. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons sugar. Bake in 400º oven 35-40 minutes.
