1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
2-1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup milk
2 cups chopped apples
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon lemon

2/3 cup brown sugar
1 cup coconut
1/3 cup butter
1/2 cup nuts

Cream together brown sugar, white sugar and shortening. Add eggs. Sift together flour, soda, salt and cinnamon. Add to mixture, alternately with milk. Add chopped apples, vanilla and lemon. Pour batter in 8-1/2x12-inch pan. Melt 1/3 cup butter and mix in topping ingredients. Sprinkle over top of cake. Bake at 375 for 45-55 minutes.
