6 sliced bacon, cooked, drained, crumbled-set aside
Saute (in bacon fat) 4 pounds beef sirloin cut in small pieces.
Drain off excess fat
Add:
2 cloves garlic, crushed
2 cans sliced mushrooms, drained
1 small green bell pepper, cut up
2 bay leaves
2 tbsp. parsley
1 tsp. thyme
1/8 tsp. pepper
2 1/2 cans consemme
1/2 cup cooking Burgundy wine ( if you prefer to not use cooking wine, it still tastes good).

Simmer several hours and then add salt, if desired. Remove bay leaf. Thicken with 1/2 cup flour mixed with 1/2 cup butter. Serve over rice. Venison may be substituted for beef.
