1c. crisco,
3c. sugar,
4 eggs,
2t. vanilla,
1t. salt,
2oz. red food coloring,
2c. buttermilk,
4c. flour,
6T cocoa in 2oz. of water,
2T. vinegar,
2t. baking soda

Cream crisco and sugar, add eggs, vanilla, salt, and buttermilk mix until blended. Add food coloring and mix by hand to avoid splattering- mix well. Add sifted flour and cocoa mixture and mix until fully blended. Add vinegar and baking soda and stir by hand until mixed well.
Bake at 350 in 11x14 greased pan, 40-45 minutes or until center is cooked through.
