1 C Pecans
1 C Almonds
1C butter
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 C white sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp cream of Tartar (not essential)
1/2 cup corn syrup
20 cups popcorn (popped)

Directions:
Directions:
Toast nuts in oven for 5 minutes
pop - popcorn
Boil, sugar, butter & syrup & cream of tartar together for 7-9 mins. (test for hard ball stage, by take a tiny bit of this mixture and dropping into a cup of cold water, if it forms a ball that is good)
remove from heat & add soda and Vanilla.
work quickly and coat popcorn and nuts
Use buttered forks.
Spread out on cookie sheet and cool.
Break into bite size pieces.
store in air tight container (metal cookie tin is good)

I make this at Xmas - also a good 'give-away' treat, for friends, teachers. Put into small bags and tie with a bow.
