Directions:
Cream shortening and peanut butter, add sugars, then add egg. Blend in flour, soda, baking powder, and salt together.

Form in "cigar"-shaped rolls about 2 to 3 inches long, place on cookie sheet, and press down with a fork to flatten and create lines. Bake 10 to 12 minutes in a 375-degree oven. (Can also form in balls and then fork flatten.)

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Minnie Kruszewski used to make these every Christmas. One year a pregnant cousin had a craving for them--her baby liked them so much she decided to make her entrance a bit earlier than scheduled--on New Year's Eve! Minnie liked to recall that her cookies had something to do with the holiday baby, who was named Carol.
