Cherries in the Snow (low fat) Recipe

Ingredients: 1 8 oz tub fat free cream cheese
1 cup sifted powdered sugar
1 12 oz carton frozen reduced calorie whipped topping, thawed (thaw in refrigerator 4 hrs)
8 cups (1 inch) cubed angel food cake (I use store bought but can make from scratch)!
1 20 oz can cherry pie filling (recipe calls for light filling but I use regular)
**Can make with light or regular cream cheese and whipped topping if you do not want to make this as light -it is nearly impossible to tell the difference though so I like using the fat free ingredients

Directions:Beat cream cheese at medium speed of an electric mixer until smooth. Gradually add sugar, beating until blended. Gently fold in whipped topping.
Place half of cake cubes in large glass bowl; top with half of cheese mixture. Spread half of cherry filling over cheese mixture. Repeat layers with remaining cake cubes, cheese mixture and cherry filling. Cover and chill. (I chill for at least 4 hrs).
Yield: 12 servings (serving size, 1 cup)
**Depending on size of bowl put in amounts of layers as desired –I normally use Trifle Bowl and never put ˝ of angel food and other ingredients in on first layer –like look of multiple smaller layers
