1 pint Lard (scant - minus about 1/4 pt)
1 pint buttermilk
4 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp salt
4 tsp baking powder
2 tsp baking soda
40 oz brown sugar
app. 5 lb flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla.
Mix dry ingredients (except soda) in a little flour.
Soda goes into buttermilk. Stir well and alternate buttermilk and flour into creamed mixture using nearly 5 lbs. of flour. Roll cookies and cut with your favorite cutter.
Bake 360º for 12-15 minutes.
