Ham bone
1 lg. onion
2 tbsp. butter
3 qt. water
2 package of split peas
1 bay leaf
1 c minced carrots
1 tbsp. salt add to taste
1 tsp. pepper
2 chopped potatoes

Directions:
Directions:
Soak split peas overnight. Use a large pot saute onions in butter until tender. Add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, cover and lower heat simmering for 3 hours. Before serving remove bone from pot. To thicken put 1 c. soup in blender puree and return to pot. Salt to taste go easy as ham bone can be very salty.
