This dish is best prepared outside, it will really make the house stink. In a large pot bring several gallons of water to a rolling boil. Add 1 c. salt for every gallon of water. Plunge crab into pot, cover and cook 20 minutes. Start the time when you cover with the lid. Remove crab, crack (clean) and serve while warm. No need for butter, is has a buttery flavor naturally.
