1 c. sugar
1 stick butter
2 eggs
3/4 c. cooked, chopped prunes
1 1/2 c. cake flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Last ingredients:

1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. sour milk

Directions:
Directions:
Beat sugar, shortening, eggs, add chopped prunes. Sift dry ingredients together, omitting baking soda. Put baking soda into sour milk, mix well and add to first mixture - add nuts.
Combine all.
Bake in a 9 x 9 inch greased cake pan or a small tube pan, 45 minutes in 350 degree oven.
Cool and frost with simple confectioners' frosting.
