- 2 packets - yeast
- 1/2 cup - water - warm
- 1 tbsp - granulated sugar
- 3 cups - milk - scalded
- 3 cups - water - hot from tap
- 3 eggs - beaten
- 1/2 cup - shortening
- 1/4 cup - granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp - salt
- 15 - 17 cups - all purpose flour

Preheat oven 375 f

- dissolve the tbsp sugar in the 1/2 cup water
- add yeast, let sit 10 - 15 minutes
- in a large bowl mix shortening, sugar, salt, milk
- add water eggs
- add yeast
- gradually add flour, mixing by hand till combined
- knead till it is a smooth dough
- cover and let rise till doubled in size
- punch down
- let rise again
- punch down let rise 15 minutes
- form into 5 - 6 loaves
let rise another 15 minutes
- bake for approximately 1 hour, or until golden
