kale
apple cider

raw apples. Golden Delicious
butter (optional)

Directions:

Wash kale. Remove tough stems. Place in wide skillet with apple cider (1/4 to 1/2 cup) and steam about 10 minutes.

Before it is done to your taste add big chunks of Golden Delicious apples, peeled and cored. Cook until apple chunks are barely done.

Dot with butter just before serving.

If you don't have cider use apple juice, but cider is better. This kale needs no salt.

Vernon loved kale. I liked it cooked less than he, so I'd take my serving out and continue to cook the rest, until it was, according to him, "done".

This is a wonderful way to prepare kale. If you want to preserve the brighter green color, cook it without a lid (and not well done). Any vegetable or fruit that can be eaten raw can be eaten barely cooked.
