CONEY ISLAND:
12 Kettle-cooked weiners
12 coney island buns, heated
prepared mustard
chopped onion
1 recipe Coney Sauce

CONEY SAUCE:
1/2 lb. ground beef
1/4 c. water1/4 cup chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1 -8oz. can, (1 cup) seasoned tomato sauce
1/2 tsp each: chili powder and salt

KETTLE COOKED WIENERS:
Place franks in boiling water; cover and reduce heat; simmer (don't boil) 5 to 8 minutes. Lift out with tongs.

CONEY SAUCE:
Brown ground beef slowly but thoroughly, breaking with a fork till fine. Add remaining ingredients: simmer uncovered 10 minutes. Makes sauce for 12 Coneys.

CONEY ISLAND:
Pop weiners into buns, top with mustard, onion, and hot Coney Sauce. Makes 12.
