4 squares of bitter chocolate
1/2 C. shortening
2 C. granulated sugar
4 eggs
2 1/2 C. flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
powdered sugar

In a heavy pan over low heat melt the chocolate and shortening.
Cool a bit and add granulated sugar. Beat the eggs and add a
little at a time (beating after each addition). Sift together flour,,
baking powder, and salt. Add this mix to the pan. Add vanilla.
Chill dough 2-3 hours, then form into little balls about an inch in
diameter. Dip into powdered sugar. Place on greased cookie
sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes at 350.
