4 cups white bread crumbs
2 cups milk
1/4 cup butter, cut up
2 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. nutmeg

Vanilla Sauce:
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup half & half
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1 tsp. vanilla

Bread Pudding: Place bread in a large bowl. Combine milk and 1/4 cup butter in medium saucepan. Heat until milk is steaming and butter is nearly melted. Pour hot mixture over bread and let stand 10 minutes. Grease 1 1/2 qt. casserole dish. In a small bowl, slightly beat eggs. Stir in 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg. Stir into bread mixture and pour into casserole dish. Bake at 350º for 55 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.

Vanilla Sauce: In a medium saucepan, combine butter, half and half, sugar and brown sugar. Cook and stir over medium heat for 5-8 minutes until mixture comes to a full boil. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Pour over pudding as you serve it.
