1TB shortening
1 c sugar
1 egg
3 tsp Baking powder
1 c milk
1/8 tsp salt
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp nutmeg

Directions:

Mix all the ingredients. Kneed dough. Roll out and cup with a doughnut cutter. Place in hot grease until completely golden brown. Put cinnamon. and sugar in one brown bag and powered sugar in another. Put doughnut's strait from the frying pan to one of the bags . Shake to coat and lay out to cool.

I think this was one of all the kids favorite I remember when Cherri and I would come home from school and find doughnuts. Wow, could we eat them. They are wonderful
