This recipe calls for any type of root vegetable, just need to food process or grate them
½ container green split peas
½ container barley
Carrots
String beans (just cut up in small pieces- don’t grate them)
Yams
Sweet potatoes
Parsnips
1/3 package orzo (pasta)
2 ½ lbs stew meat or about 10 – 12 short ribs



Directions:

Put split peas in 10 quarts of water and cook, while preparing other veggies.
Add meat and slow cook on heat for approx. 1 hour. Test meat for softness, add
all the veggies.

Cook addition 2 - 3 hours until veggies are soft.

Add orzo to thicken soup, add a hand full at a time and check consistency of soup.
