"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

3/4 lb. ground meat
2 T. olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
2, 6 oz. cans tomato paste
Garlic salt
Salt and pepper
1 T. sugar
Fresh or dried basil, to taste
Fresh or dried parsley, to taste
Dash of oregano
2, 15 oz. cans tomato sauce
3/4 c. grated Parmesan or Romano cheese

1. In a large saucepan brown the ground meat in the olive oil. While browning, mince the garlic and add to the meat.
2. Add 2 cans of tomato paste and cook like you are "frying" the tomato paste. (This is how Lena cooked the paste.)
3. Add garlic salt, salt and pepper, sugar, basil, parsley and oregano. Mix together well.
4. Add 2 tomato paste cans of water and stir. Then add 2 cans tomato sauce with 2 cans water; stir.
5. Add grated cheese and simmer for another few minutes. Adjust seasoning to your taste. If you want more garlic flavor at this point, add garlic powder.
