Rind of one orange
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup almond meats
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 beaten eggs
1 tsp. baking powder
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup milk

Preheat oven to 350
Grind together Orange Rind, Raisins and Almonds
Beat together remaining ingredients
Combine with ground ingredients.
Pour in greased tube pan.
Bake 45 to 50 minutes, or until done.
Let cool and pour over juice of one orange brought to a boil with one cup of sugar.

This recipe is from my maternal grandmother: Mary Lucy Graziola Benedetti, 1887-1986. She was being courted by our Great-Uncle Alexander, [Zan,] Whitcher. He had to break up with her because his parents did not like him involved with "those Italians!"
