4 Tablespoons cocoa
2 cups flour
2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 cups applesauce (chunky)
1/2 cup dates
1/2 cup raisins
3/4 cup walnuts
ICING
1 3 oz pkg cream cheese
1 Tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon maple flavoring
2 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups powdered sugar

Mix dry ingredients. Mix wet ingredients. Mix the 2 together, add fruit and nuts. Poor into a greased 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50. Frost cake when cool.

My Grandma Fjelsted was famous for her applesauce cake. She never used a recipe. This was what she came up with when I asked for the recipe. Chunky applesauce is best.
