1 3/4 cup sifted all-purpose flour
2 tbsps. Shortening
2 tsps. baking powder
2/3 cup cold water
1 tsp. Salt
Oil for frying
Honey

Directions:
Directions:

Sift flour with baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening. Add water to make a stiff dough. Turn out on lightly floured board and knead lightly until smooth. Cover and let rest for 5 minutes, then roll to 12” x 15” rectangle. The dough will be very thin. Cut into 3” squares. Heat oil very hot (385º-400º) and fry a few squares at a time, turning frequently so that they puff evenly. Fry until golden brown. Remove from oil with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with honey. Yields about 20.
