2 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp. anise seeds
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 stick butter, room temperature
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. grated orange zest
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. almond extract
1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped almonds
1/2 c. golden raisins

Directions:

Preheat oven to 325ºF.
1. Combine flour, anise seeds, baking powder and salt in bowl.
2. Beat butter, sugar and orange zest until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time. Add vanilla and almond extract.
3. Gradually beat in the flour mixture. Stir in almonds and raisins.
4. Form dough into 2 logs about 1 1/2"wide by 14" long. Put on a baking sheet about 3" apart. Bake at 325ºF until golden brown, or about 45 minutes.
5. Cool; reduce oven temperature to 250ºF. Cut logs into 1/2" slices and put cut side up (or on edges) on the baking sheet. Bake until dried, about 30 to 40 minutes.
