Cream together:
1 stick butter or margarine
1/2 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
5 egg yolks (save egg whites)

Sift and add to above:
2 cups flour
1 tsp. soda
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 small can coconut
1 cup black walnuts

*Frosting::
1/4 cup butter
1 (8 oz) pkg. cream cheese
1 16-ounce pkg. powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
Cream together butter and cream cheese. Gradually add 1 box sifted powdered sugar, mixing after each addition. Add vanilla. Garnish top of cake with black walnut pieces.

Cream together butter or margarine, shortening, sugar, and egg yolks (save egg whites).

Sift and add flour, soda, buttermilk and vanilla.
Stir in 1 small can coconut and 1 cup black walnuts pieces. Fold in the 5 stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in 8" or 9" pan at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.

*Frosting::
Cream together butter and cream cheese. Gradually add 1 box sifted powdered sugar, mixing after each addition. Add vanilla. Garnish top of cake with black walnut pieces.
