1 box yellow cake mix
1 box (3.5 oz) instant pudding
4 eggs
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup rum

Glaze:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup rum

Directions:
Directions:
Mix the cake mix, instant pudding, eggs, oil, water and rum and bake at 325º for an hour or more and allow to cool.

Mix the butter, sugar and water for the glaze. Boil 5 minutes, stirring and add rum.

Poke holes in the cake and pour the glaze over the cake.

This comes from Peg Stark, matriarch of Leavenworth's Extended Family. Peg created so many opportunities for young children in Leavenworth that she became the only person I've know who has had a community commission a statue of her while she's still alive! Gracing the highway frontage of the Leavenworth City Hall & Library building is a statue entitled "The Storyteller" - it's Peg! She is so well loved and remembered here that each winter, some mystery person(s) puts a sweater on the statue, and the sweater changes each week....
