3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
3/4 teaspoon ginger
1/4 cup molasses
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon cloves

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375ºF

1. Sift flour with soda and set aside.
2. In a large bowl cream sugar and shortening, then mix in egg and molasses.
3. Add the flour, salt, cinnamon ,cloves and mix thoroughly.
4. Form into balls and bake for 7- 10 minutes
5. Remove from oven and roll in powdered sugar.

This recipe was given to me by my very close friend, Ann
Hyer. Every year at Christmas time I would go visit her and her house was filled with the smell of these mouth watering cookies. Every time I bake these cookies I think of her and say a little prayer that she is my friend.
