Personal Notes:
Cinnamon and/or freshly ground nutmeg, and vanilla (2 tsp. each) can be substituted for the anise seed and lemon extract. For chocolate biscotti, one cup of semi-sweet cocoa powder can be substituted for one cup of flour; add almonds, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla (replacing anise seed and lemon extract).
