Asparagus
1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar (optional)
1/2 teaspoon salt

1. Prepare asparagus for cooking by snapping off lower
part of asparagus stalks.
1. Place asparagus in large skillet and cover with cold water. Stir in sugar and salt. Bring to a full boil and cook for 1-3 minutes, depending on freshness and size of stalks.
3. Remove from heat and let stand, uncovered, at least 30 minutes. Asparagus may remain in water for hours. When ready to serve, reheat just to a boil; drain and serve.
