1 3/4 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
1 1/2 tsp. soda
3/4 tsp. salt
1 1/4 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup of shortening
2 eggs
2 oz. melted chocolate.
1 tsp.vanilla
1/2 tsp. red food color

Grease and flour pan (9 x13 or 2 - 9 inch rounds)
Measure all ingredients into large bowl. Blend for 30 seconds and beat at high speed for 3 minutes. Bake 350 degrees - (40 minutes for 9 X 13 - 30 to 35 minutes for 2 - 9 inch rounds)

4 tsp butter
2 squares choc
1/3 cup hot milk
3 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/8 tsp salt

Melt butter and choc. Stir hot milk into powdered sugar and beat until smooth. Stir in choc mixture, vanilla, and salt. Beat until thick (about 5 minutes). I finally refrigerated for awhile because it was not thickening.
