4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt

1 c. shortening
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2/3 c. buttermilk

1 c. chopped pecans
1 c. candied cherries
2 c. dates
1 c. candied fruit peel
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. shredded coconut

Directions:

Sift flour,soda and salt. Cream shortening. Add sugar and eggs. Beat until light and fluffy. Add buttermilk, flour mixture, nuts, cherries, dates and fruit. Chill dough several hours.

Drop by teaspoonful about 2 inches apart on greased baking sheet. Bake in 375º oven for 8-10 minutes.
