1 pkg. active dry yeast
1 1/4 c warm water
2 tbsp. oil
2 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. fine herbs
1 1/2 tsp. ground sage
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
3 c sifted all-purpose flour

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º Sprinkle yeast over water and stir until
dissolved. Add oil, sugar, salt, herbs, nutmeg & sage plus 1/2
of flour. Beat at medium speed in mixer for 1 min., Scrape
sides and bottom, beat for another minute. Dough will be light
and sticky. Add remaining flour and blend with spoon until
smooth. Cover with clean cloth and allow to rise in warm
place until double in size (about 30-45 min.) Beat down
(approximately 25 strokes with spoon or ands). Put in
greased 9 X 15 loaf pan. Allow to rise in warm place until
double in size. Bake for 45-50 minutes. Spread top with
butter when hot. Do not remove from pan until cool.
