2 cups packed light brown sugar
2 cup light corn syrup*
1 teaspoon vinegar
4 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon vegetable shortening
12 ounce package chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
In heavy pan combine sugar syrup and vinegar. cook over medium heat stirring contstantly until sugar dissolves. Cook without stirring until temperature reaches 300° F (hard crack] on candy thermometer. Do not overcook. Remove from heat and stir in baking soda. Pour quickly in a foil-lined, buttered 9x13 pan. Do not spread. When cool break into bitesize pieces. Melt chocolate and shortening in double boiler over simmering water; dip candy pieces in chocolate. Place on waxed paper-lined baking sheets and allow to dry at room temperature. Store tightly covered.
