Fresh Green Beans (1 LB per person) Snap and Tip each bean. If there are any strings pull them off.
Buy at a fresh farmers market if you can in the summer.Cover with water in a large kettle with lid

Use one big Ham Hock for seasoning or Turkey Bacon works good also if you don't want all the fat added to the beans.

1 T. salt 1/2 tsp. black pepper

New potato's 2 per person - wash & leave skins on or you can peel them if you prefer.

Use large kettle with lid, remember to cover the beans with water. The water will boil down as you cook them. You might have to add more water. It will take 3 hours on the stove. In the last hour add small new potato's to pot to boil. Make sure there is enough water. Keep boiling until potato's are tender. Serve with Home Made Cornbread recipe.

Sometimes we have fresh corn on the cob with the beans & the corn bread for an entire meal. Grandma Crandall always had this meal in the summer. It was my favorite. Grandpa Harley Crandall sometimes made the Fried Green Tomatoes to go along with it. They were great too. Grandpa always planted the best tomatoes in town. I couldn't wait till the first tomato of the year so he would fry up some of the green tomatoes.
