2/3 C pumpkin
1 C brown sugar
1/4 C melted shortening or oil
2 eggs
1/2 t ginger
1 t cinnamon
1/4 t nutmeg
1 t vanilla
1 C flour
1/2 t soda
1/2 t salt
1/3 C raisins, dates, or other
1/2 C English walnuts or pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Mix pumpkin with brown sugar, shortening,eggs and spices. Add vanilla. Stir in flour, soda and salt. Add dates or raisins and nuts. Bake in 9 x 13 pan, greased and floured. 350 degree oven, 25 minutes. Make icing with 1/2 C powdered sugar, 1/2 C brown sugar, 2 T soft oleo or butter 1 t vanilla and 1 t milk. It will be stiff. Spread on hot bars.

These bars are moist and tasty. I baked some for the church social hour. I put craisins in those.
