2 c. sugar
2 1/3 c. all-purpose flour
3 eggs
2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
3 oz. chocolate
1/2 c. buttermilk
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. boiling water
FIlling/Icing:
2 c. sugar
3 Tbsp. cocoa
1/2 c. milk
2 Tbsp. butter

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time. Mix chocolate, flour, soda, and salt together. In separate bowl, pour buttermilk and slowly stir in boiling water. Add alternately the flour mixture and the buttermilk mixture to the cake batter (starting with flour mixture and ending with flour mixture). Add vanilla. Pour batter into greased and floured cake pans and bake at 325º until done. For filling, boil all ingredients 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Let cool and frost between layers. Can use white icing instead of the filling recipe, or can use white icing just on top and sides of cake.
