1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs, (beaten)
2 1/2 c. flour
1 c. whole milk
2 c. chopped apples
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Directions:
Cream together 1 1/2 c. of brown sugar, shortening, and eggs. Mix together milk and soda. Mix together flour and baking powder. Add milk and flour to creamed mixture. Fold in apples. Pour batter into a greased and floured 9 x 13 inch cake pan. Mix 3/4 cup brown sugar, white sugar, and nuts. Spread on top of cake batter. Bake in preheated 350° oven for 40 to 45 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean.
