2 1/2 lbs. beef cubes
1/4 c. flour
1/4 c. shortening (optional)
4 c. boiling water
8 oz. tomato sauce
1/2 tsp. garlic powder

2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
onions
carrots, cut in 1/2 inch pieces
8 medium potatoes, cut in half inch pieces

Directions:
Directions:

Brown meat in hot fat turning often. Add boiling water, tomato sauce, salt, pepper and garlic powder. Simmer two hours, stirring occasionally to keep from sticking.

Add onions, carrots and potatoes. Cover and cook 30 minutes, until vegetables are done. Thicken and simmer 5 minutes.
